Our mission is to promote the rights and capabilities of blind and visually impaired people in Arizona and across the United States.
Arizona Council of the Blind (AZCB)
We empower Arizonans who are blind or visually impaired and are an affiliate of the American Council of the Blind
Who We Are
AZCB is a volunteer-led non-profit organization serving blind and low vision Arizonans. As an affiliate of the American Council of the Blind (ACB), we share its mission, “To increase independence, security, opportunity, and quality of life for all people who are blind or visually impaired.” We have advanced that mission in Arizona through advocacy, education, community support, and connection.
What We Offer
- Support for newly blind and long-term members
- Leadership and advocacy opportunities
- Peer mentorship and friendships
- Inclusive, accessible events and programming
Advocacy
Throughout our 50+ year history we have addressed a wide spectrum of issues including: access to technology, accessible voting, equal employment opportunities, economic security, and virtually every other area encompassing the human experience. Through our nationwide special-interest ACB affiliates, we are able to tap into leading experts from across the country, lending credibility on complex social, technical, and economic issues.
Our Chapters
- Central Arizona Council of the Blind
- Southern Arizona Council of the Blind
While these volunteer-led chapters primarily serve the greater Phoenix and Tucson regions, we welcome anyone from anywhere to participate by joining any of our online programs.
